Connection and Social Action

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Connection Committee, developed in the 1980s by former International President Faye Bryant, is an extension of the sorority’s long tradition of partnering with other national and community-based organizations to empower the underserved and the voiceless. The term Connection is based on the concept of linking every member together to maximize resources, expertise and relationships to work collectively and collaboratively to identify issues of paramount concerns.
Omega Omega Chapter, in keeping with the international foci, has sponsored forums, voter registration drives, and youth voter education/registration programs. We have partnered with NPHC to train members to serve as election observers and participated in AKA Day in Harrisburg along with other AKA chapters in Pennsylvania. At our monthly Connection meetings, we invite local and state elected officials to speak with us about various issues of concern. We have worked to increase the minimum wage, shed light on the need for fair funding for our schools, mental health issues and gun control. The Connection Committee meets on the 2nd Sunday of the month in the homes of the committee members. Any member of Omega Omega is welcome to attend.
EAF – Educational Advancement Foundation

Launching New Dimensions of Educational Excellence
PURPOSE: EAF is the philanthropic arm of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., its mission is to promote lifelong learning. To accomplish this, EAF relies on charitable contributions, gifts and endowed funds to award scholarships, fellowships and community assistant awards. Every chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is encouraged to support EAF in addition to our individual membership dues of $10.00 per year.
Chapter Fundraising
EAF Chapter fundraising activities enable chapters to participate in EAF’S annual giving initiatives. Those chapters that meet or surpass the EAF giving milestones are recognized at the annual North Atlantic Regional Conference for their achievements. The recognition levels are: Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Omega Omega Chapter has been fortunate to receive Platinum recognition for its annual chapter contributions of $2,000.00 at the 2020, 2021 and 2022 North Atlantic Regional Conferences.
EAF Endowments and Fellowships
There are five members of the Omega Omega Chapter who have been recognized for establishing Endowment Funds and Fellowships with the Foundation. The Endowment/Fellowships are as follows:

- Patricia and Theresa Massey Fund
- Ruth C. Easley Gerontology Fund
- Dr. Dorri Phipps Fellowship

Technology Committee

The Technology Committee is responsible for executive board and committee member workshops, using Dropbox accounts to collaborate among committee members and subsequently opened and maintains a corporate Dropbox account utilizing seven licensed accounts, suggesting and training members on alternative meeting methods such as Free Conference Call – online version. The Technology Committee has facilitated 45 minute timely topics and 10-minute chapter presentations. Chapter workshops included topics such as Tech Matters: Logging in and using corporate, regional and local online resources, using Excel for data recording, electronic backup and storage, RFID (Identity and or financial theft), Strong Passwords, and the Omega Omega Social Media Policy (created by the Green Squad with guidance from the corporate media policy. We are planning the following workshops for the future: Google Hangout and Google Apps. The Technology Committee maintains the all chapter electronic and social networking sites: Chapter webpage, Facebook account, Instagram account, Twitter account. We look forward to adding a YouTube account soon. We also support the chapter meeting by maintaining a schedule for Technology Committee members to run the technology needed for the meeting (PowerPoint, audio, and other) which includes creating the meeting PowerPoint with direction from the president, and reports from the officers and committee chairmen. Lastly, the Technology Committee supports committee chairmen with any technology needs, the MIP process, registration for Golden Members and others who need assistance. The committee is available at any time or place for personal technology support.
